New to the world of pay-per-click advertising? Wondering how to get started? Here’s an infographic that will walk you through the initial steps and things you should be thinking about to help your campaigns get off to a great start.

Segmentation is critical in the overall success of pay-per-click campaigns. Think about how your business is categorized. It may be as simple as 2 different pet foods you sell. Break it down further from there. What kinds of pet food do you sell in each category? These become your ad groups.

Next comes keyword selection. Take time to conduct through keyword research. Be as granular as you can and choose unique, long-tail keywords in each ad group. Try to think as potential customers searching for your product would. What words or phrases would they use to find your product or service? Create ads with text that is specific to the keywords and searches that will trigger them so that they are as relevant as possible. This will yield high click-through rates and great quality scores.
