Application Interface
An API, which stands for “application programming interface,” is a group of rules and protocols that allow websites and applications to talk to each other. APIs are used to let different systems interact with each other and to give developers programmatic access to data and functions through third-party websites and applications.
Primary API Types
- Open APIs are available to the public and can be used by anyone.
- Partner APIs are available to strategic business partners.
- Internal APIs are used by a company’s own development teams.
- Composite APIs are a set of tasks that are put together into one API call.
