Keeping your Social Media Marketing Clean and Simple

Keep it Clean, Keep it Simple

I was sitting on the couch the other day and watched my two year old daughter take a plastic bag from the store and start to play with it by throwing it in the air and watching it float back down to her. This entertained her for quite some time, laughing and giggling the whole time. I sat there thinking to myself, “Ah the simple pleasures of life, how nice it would be to be so easily entertained.” This thought made me think even further into the subject. We can be entertained by simple things. Often it is the simple things that we remember so well. I continued to think more about it and how this concept can apply to my work and Social Media Marketing. It then hit me like a ton of bricks.

Don’t over complicate things

Sometimes after we get going in our social media efforts we start having a flow and since we feel good we try to incorporate even more into our marketing goals and efforts. It’s good to try new things, but see what works and either keep it or toss it out the door. I think sometimes we want to keep every idea we have and have it on our sites and plans. However we all can think of times when we have gone to a site and it just seemed…..too much, and often that is exactly the case. Don’t keep adding and adding to your site, keep it clean and keep it simple.

Make it fun

As I was watching my daughter play with her plastic bag I realized that it was simple, but more importantly it was fun. We need to make sure our social media sites are fun and interactive with our audiences. If people go to your site and not enjoy themselves or have fun, they are not going to stay or come back. Your conversion rate will drop and you don’t want that. Clean and Simple, and have a hint of fun.

So with these two simple tips you can help your social media marketing be that much more successful. Make sure you don’t over complicate things and more importantly make sure fun is involved. So think back of the things that give you joy and happiness (like a little girl and her plastic bag) and incorporate it in your plans.
